Deposit via Wire Transfer

Send USD or EUR from any bank worldwide via SWIFT. Free from Peanut, arrives in 1-5 business days.

How to Deposit via Wire Transfer

Wire transfers are the universal fallback for funding your Peanut account from any bank in the world. If your bank can send a SWIFT transfer in USD or EUR, you can deposit to Peanut. There are no fees from Peanut, though your bank may charge $25-$80+ for outgoing wires. International wires typically arrive in 1-5 business days; domestic US wires can arrive the same day.

Once your deposit lands, your balance is held in digital dollars. From there you can pay at over a million merchants in Argentina via Mercado Pago QR, send Pix in Brazil, transfer money to friends and family, or withdraw to any bank account in 40+ countries.

For smaller or more frequent deposits, consider SEPA (free, under 20 minutes from Europe) or ACH (free, 1-3 business days from the US) — both are faster and avoid the wire transfer fees your bank charges.

Before You Start

Info

Wire transfers are deposit-only. Peanut does not support wire withdrawals. For withdrawals, use SEPA (Europe) or ACH (US). This page covers incoming wire deposits only.

Make sure you have the following before initiating your deposit:

  • A verified Peanut account. Bank deposits require identity verification — a photo ID (passport or national ID card) plus a selfie. The process takes under 2 minutes for most users. See the verification guide for details.

  • A bank account that can send SWIFT wire transfers. This includes virtually any bank worldwide. Your bank needs to be able to send an international wire in USD or EUR.

  • USD or EUR. Peanut accepts wire deposits in US dollars or euros. If your bank account holds a different currency, your bank will convert before sending. That conversion is handled by your bank, not Peanut.

  • Budget for your bank's wire fee. Your bank will likely charge $25-$80+ for an outgoing international wire. Peanut charges nothing on its end. For smaller amounts, SEPA or digital dollar deposits may be more cost-effective.

How to Deposit via Wire Transfer

  1. 1

    Open the Peanut app

Tap "Deposit" from your home screen to reach the deposit options.

  2. 2

    Select wire transfer

Choose the wire transfer option. The app will display the wire details for your deposit: a SWIFT/BIC code, an account number or IBAN, the beneficiary name, and a unique reference number tied to your account.

  3. 3

Copy the reference number and wire details

The reference number is critical — it connects the incoming wire to your Peanut account. Copy all details exactly as shown.

  4. 4

    Log into your bank

Open your banking app, online banking portal, or visit your bank branch. Navigate to international wire transfers.

  5. 5

    Enter the wire details

Enter the SWIFT/BIC code, account number or IBAN, and beneficiary name from Peanut. Enter the amount in USD or EUR. Paste the reference number into the payment reference field. If available, select "OUR" as the fee instruction so intermediary banks do not deduct fees from the transfer amount.

  6. 6

    Confirm and send

Double-check the reference number and all wire details before confirming. Your bank will process the wire and debit your account plus any wire transfer fee.

Your Peanut balance updates automatically once the wire is received and matched to your account. No action needed on your end after sending.

Confirmation Times

Wire transfer timing depends on whether the wire is domestic or international:

  • Domestic US wires: same business day. If you send a domestic USD wire from a US bank, it typically arrives the same business day when initiated before the cut-off time (usually 3-4 PM ET).

  • International wires: 1-5 business days. SWIFT transfers route through intermediary banks, which adds time. Most international wires arrive within 2-3 business days, though some corridors may take up to 5.

  • Business days only. Wire transfers do not process on weekends or bank holidays. A wire initiated on Friday afternoon may not begin processing until Monday.

  • EUR wires from SEPA countries. If you are in a SEPA country, consider using SEPA instead — it is free and 90% of deposits arrive in under 20 minutes.

If your deposit has not appeared after 5 business days, check the deposit troubleshooting guide for next steps.

Fees

  • Peanut deposit fee: free. Peanut charges nothing for wire deposits.

  • Your bank's wire fee: $25-$80+. Most banks charge for outgoing international wires. The fee varies by bank, country, and transfer amount. Domestic US wires are typically cheaper ($15-$30) than international wires.

  • Intermediary bank fees. SWIFT wires may route through one or more intermediary banks, each of which may deduct a fee from the transfer amount. Selecting "OUR" as the fee instruction (if your bank offers it) means you pay all fees upfront, and the full amount reaches Peanut.

  • Currency conversion (if applicable). If your bank account is not in USD or EUR, your bank handles the conversion before sending. The exchange rate and conversion fee are set by your bank.

Tips for a Smooth Wire Deposit

  • Copy-paste the reference number. A missing or incorrect reference is the most common cause of delayed wire deposits. Always copy directly from the app.

  • Name on your bank account must match Peanut. The sender name on the wire must match your verified Peanut account name.

  • Select "OUR" fee instruction if available. This ensures intermediary banks do not deduct fees from the wire amount, so the full deposit reaches Peanut.

  • Consider alternatives for smaller amounts. Wire fees of $25-$80 make wires expensive for small deposits. For deposits under a few hundred dollars, SEPA, ACH, or digital dollar deposits on Arbitrum or Solana are more cost-effective.

  • Include the SWIFT/BIC code. Missing SWIFT codes can cause wires to be rejected or delayed. Double-check the code before sending.
