How Do I Delete My Peanut Account?
You can request to delete your Peanut account and associated personal data at any time. Because Peanut is a self-custody wallet, deleting your account removes your profile and personal information from our systems — but your funds remain on the blockchain under your control. This guide explains how to request deletion, what happens to your data, and what you should do before submitting the request.
Request Account Deletion
- 1
Withdraw or transfer your balance
Before requesting deletion, move any remaining balance out of your Peanut account. You can send it to an external wallet, withdraw to a bank account, or transfer it to another user. Once your account is deleted, you will no longer be able to access the app to move your funds.
- 2
Contact support
Open the Peanut app and tap the chat icon to start a conversation with support, or email us directly. Let us know you want to delete your account and associated data.
- 3
Verify your identity
For security, we may ask you to confirm your identity before processing the deletion. This protects your account from unauthorized deletion requests.
- 4
Confirm deletion
Once verified, we will process your request. You will receive a confirmation when your account and personal data have been removed from our systems.
What Gets Deleted
When you request account deletion, we remove the following from our systems:
- Your profile information (name, email, phone number)
- Your account settings and preferences
- Your app usage history and analytics data tied to your identity
- Your verification status and KYC reference ID
- Any marketing consent and communication preferences
What Does NOT Get Deleted
Some data cannot be deleted due to the nature of self-custody wallets and legal requirements:
- Your funds on the blockchain. Your digital dollars live on the Arbitrum network in a smart account that only your passkey controls. Peanut cannot access, freeze, or delete these funds. If you have not withdrawn your balance before deletion, it remains on-chain and accessible only through your passkey.
- Transaction records on-chain. All transactions are recorded permanently on the blockchain. This is true for any wallet — not specific to Peanut.
- KYC records held by our verification provider. Financial regulations require identity verification data to be retained for a period of time (typically 5 years). Our certified verification provider stores this data, not Peanut. You can request deletion directly from them under GDPR, but regulatory retention periods may apply.
Important
How Long Does Deletion Take?
Most deletion requests are processed within 7 business days. You will receive an email confirmation once complete. If we need additional information to verify your identity, the process may take longer.
Can I Reactivate My Account?
No. Account deletion is permanent. If you want to use Peanut again in the future, you will need to create a new account and complete verification again.
