The DNI Barrier
Kamila does not have an Argentine DNI. Before Peanut, that meant she could not open her own Mercado Pago account, even though QR payments were common around her.
She relied on a foreign Visa card and cash for local purchases. Those methods gave her ways to pay, but neither gave her direct access to the Mercado Pago QR flow used by participating merchants.

A Routine for Variable Income

At checkout, she scans the code, reviews the amount in pesos and Peanut's final quote, and confirms. The merchant receives a normal Mercado Pago payment. Other QR systems, including MODO and Cuenta DNI, use different formats.
That flow fits the way she works. Different freelance jobs contribute to her income, while Peanut gives the local spending portion a consistent destination.
What Access Changed
In March 2026, Kamila described the QR route as less expensive than the ways she had paid before. Exchange rates and card fees vary; Peanut shows its final quote before confirmation.
The more durable change is access. Without opening her own Mercado Pago account, she can use supported merchant QR payments in the city where she lives. Peanut adds the local payment option that had been missing.
