Peanut Is Coming to Poland
Pay with BLIK at merchants, online stores, and ATMs across Poland — no PESEL needed. Sign up to get notified.
Poland has one of Europe's most advanced digital payment ecosystems, and at its center is BLIK. Processing over 1.5 billion transactions per year, BLIK is how Poles pay for everything — from groceries at Biedronka to online shopping, from splitting bills with friends to cardless ATM withdrawals. Its unique 6-digit code system means no QR scanner or NFC hardware is needed at the point of sale. But BLIK requires a Polish bank account, and opening one requires a PESEL (Poland's universal ID number). For tourists, digital nomads, and remote workers from outside the EU, that means BLIK is off limits.
Peanut will change that. When we launch in Poland, you will be able to pay with BLIK at merchants across the country — without a PESEL, without a Polish bank account, and without navigating Poland's banking bureaucracy. Just verify with your passport. Your digital dollars will convert to zloty at the market rate, and you will access the same payment system that the vast majority of Polish bank account holders use daily.
How It Will Work
- 1
Deposit from anywhere
Send digital dollars from any exchange or wallet via Solana, Arbitrum, Base, Tron, or Ethereum. Gas fees covered. Or deposit via SEPA (free, EUR-only, typically under 20 minutes) or wire transfer. All deposits are free.
- 2
Your balance stays in dollars
Your balance will be held in digital dollars until you spend. Convert to zloty only at the moment of payment.
- 3
Pay with BLIK
Generate a 6-digit BLIK code in the Peanut app, enter it at a terminal, ATM, or online checkout. Or scan a merchant's QR code. Your dollars will convert to PLN at the market rate.
- 4
Instant confirmation
The payment will be confirmed instantly. Merchants, online stores, and ATMs will process your BLIK transaction the same way they handle any other BLIK payment.
What Payment Methods Are Coming
BLIK
BLIK is Poland's dominant mobile payment system, operated by Polski Standard Platnosci (PSP) — a consortium of Poland's major banks. It is integrated directly into banking apps, so there is no separate wallet or app to download. BLIK's core mechanism is a 6-digit code that changes every 2 minutes. You generate the code in your banking app, enter it at a terminal or ATM or online checkout, and confirm the transaction. It is fast, simple, and works everywhere.
BLIK is accepted at virtually every point of sale in Poland: supermarkets (Biedronka, Lidl, Zabka, Carrefour), restaurants, cafes, clothing and electronics retailers, vending machines, and across Polish e-commerce (where BLIK is the dominant online payment method). Cardless ATM withdrawals via BLIK are also widely available across Poland's ATM network.
The 6-digit code approach is unique — it eliminates the need for QR scanners or NFC hardware at the merchant. BLIK also supports QR payments as a secondary channel and phone-number-based P2P transfers.
How it will work with Peanut: Open the Peanut app, generate a BLIK code, and enter it at the payment terminal, ATM, or online checkout. Confirm in the app. Your digital dollars convert to zloty at the market rate and the transaction completes instantly.
No PESEL needed. BLIK requires a Polish bank account, and a Polish bank account requires a PESEL (Powszechny Elektroniczny System Ewidencji Ludnosci). EU/EEA citizens can obtain a PESEL relatively easily, but non-EU foreigners need residency registration. Peanut will accept passport verification from any country — no PESEL, no Polish bank account.

Exchange Rate: What to Expect
The Polish zloty is relatively stable against the euro, but converting to PLN through credit cards or traditional services still costs you. Card foreign transaction fees run 2-4%, and exchange rate markups are often hidden in the conversion. For digital nomads spending months in Warsaw or Krakow, those costs compound over time.
Peanut will convert digital dollars to zloty at the market rate. Poland is in the SEPA zone, so European users can deposit euros via SEPA for free (typically arriving in under 20 minutes). Your euros convert to digital dollars and then to zloty at the market rate when you pay. The direct conversion path means fewer markup layers than cards or banks.
Rate lock: The rate will lock at the moment of payment. What you see is what you pay.
No fees. Peanut will charge nothing on deposits, BLIK payments, or withdrawals. Gas fees on network transactions are covered.

Who Will Use Peanut in Poland
Remittances and Cross-Border Travel (UK-Poland)
Poland has a large diaspora in the UK, with hundreds of thousands of Polish nationals living and working in Britain. Sending money home to family is a regular occurrence, and traditional remittance services charge 3-6% in combined fees. Bank transfers via SWIFT take days and cost both sides.
Peanut will let you send money from the UK to Poland instantly via BLIK. Deposit via SEPA (free, fast) and send to any recipient in Poland. They receive zloty in seconds via their bank account — not days. For families sending regular support, the savings are significant.
Digital Nomads and Remote Workers
Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw are attracting increasing numbers of remote workers. Low cost of living, strong internet infrastructure, vibrant tech scenes, and excellent food make these cities appealing home bases. But without a PESEL and a Polish bank account, you cannot access BLIK — which means you miss out on the easiest and most widely accepted payment method in the country.
Peanut will give you BLIK access without the paperwork. Pay at restaurants, shops, and online stores — the same way locals do. When you want to withdraw cash, generate a BLIK code at any ATM in Poland — no card needed.
