Can I Give My Peanut Bank Details to My Employer?

Yes. Open an account in the currency your employer pays in (Add money → Open an account), then give its bank details to whoever runs payroll. The bank details do not change, so payroll can save them once.

By Currency

CurrencyCan payroll use it?
Dollars (USD)Yes. Payments from a registered business have no cap.
Euros (EUR)Yes, as long as your employer pays from a company account. Minimum 1 EUR.
Pounds (GBP)Yes, as long as your employer pays from a company account. Minimum 2 GBP.
Mexican pesos (MXN)Yes. A company can pay you with no limit. Minimum 50 MXN.
Colombian pesos (COP)Yes, as long as your employer pays from a company account. Minimum 100 COP, maximum 11,552,000 COP per payment.
Brazilian reais (BRL), Argentine pesos (ARS)No. There is no account in these currencies.

If you live in New York or Texas, only you can pay into your account, so payroll cannot use it.

Before You Send Them to Payroll

  • Open the currency your employer pays in. Payroll will not convert for you.
  • Do not send a reference number. An account in your name does not have one. If payroll asks for a payment reference, they can put anything they like — it is ignored.
  • Check the account holder name. Some accounts, pounds today, are held by our banking partner on your behalf. Give payroll the account holder name the app shows. Their bank can show a name mismatch when they set the payment up. It does not stop the payment.
  • Give payroll notice before you change anything. Tell payroll separately if you request retirement. Retirement does not switch the bank details off at the bank, so payroll can still send to them.

When the Salary Does Not Arrive

Check the currency rule first. On euros, pounds and Colombian pesos, payroll has to pay from the company account — a payment from a personal account is returned. On dollars, a payment from a person rather than a company must be under 4,000 USD, so anything at or above that is returned. None of this affects money you send in from your own bank account, which is always allowed.

If the payment came from the company account and still came back, contact support with the payment confirmation from payroll.

FAQ

Can I split my salary between Peanut and another bank?

That is a question for your payroll team. Many can split a payment across two accounts; some cannot.

Is my salary converted?

Yes. What arrives in your balance is digital dollars, converted at the rate shown in the app.

Can I use these details on an invoice?

Yes. They do not change, so an invoice stays correct.

My employer is an individual, not a company. Does that work?

On dollars, yes, under 4,000 USD per payment. On Mexican pesos, yes, up to 15,000 MXN in total — that is a total rather than a per-payment cap, and we cannot yet tell you the period. On euros, pounds and Colombian pesos, no — those accept a company or your own account, not another person.
