What Is Yape in Peru, and Does Peanut Support It?

Peanut does not support Yape payments today. Yape is planned, and no launch date has been announced.

How Yape Works in Peru Today

Yape is a mobile payment app in Peru. Native Yape users can send money to a mobile number and pay a person or business by scanning a Yape QR code in the Yape app. For a native QR payment, the payer scans the code, enters the amount, confirms the payment, and can show the confirmation from the app.

That describes Yape's own service. It does not describe a Peanut payment flow or say that a Yape QR code works in Peanut.

Who Can Use Yape Today

Yape documents several registration paths. An account can be linked to a BCP debit card or a supported debit card from another bank. The “Yape with DNI” route creates a BCP savings account, while registration with a foreign resident card or passport requires a BCP debit card.

Those are native Yape requirements and can change. Check Yape's current registration guidance before relying on a particular account type. Peanut does not bypass Yape's signup requirements today.
