Receive from Contra
To receive Contra earnings in your bank, verify your wallet and connect a supported payout method. Client payments must settle before their funds are available to withdraw; USD bank payouts then have their own fees and timing. If the bank is in a different country from your identity document, Contra directs you to connect it through Airwallex.
Before you start
Have your identity document and accurate personal and payment details ready. Contra's country selection refers to the country that issued your ID, which may differ from your residence or bank location. Keep those three facts separate.
Check whether the client's payment is available or still settling. An invoice being paid does not mean a bank payout has begun. Confirm any account ownership requirements with Contra if the beneficiary name is unclear; the reviewed instructions do not establish an exception for someone else's account.
Set up your Contra wallet and payout
- 1
Open the wallet
On Contra's website, open the wallet page and select Add account.
- 2
Choose your identity document's country
Select the country that issued your ID. Do not replace it with your bank's country to make the countries match.
- 3
Complete identity verification
Follow the Persona flow and provide the requested personal, identity and payment information. Return to the wallet when verification is complete.
- 4
Connect the appropriate bank method
If the bank account is in a different country from your ID, choose Airwallex, as Contra instructs. Check the details and options offered for your account; the setup guide does not promise every bank destination is supported.
- 5
Review an available payout
Once the client's funds have settled and are available, review the payout methods, speed and processor fee shown in your wallet. Connecting a bank is separate from requesting a payout. Check the final amount and destination before submitting the request.
The identity and country instructions come from Contra's wallet verification guide.
Contra settlement and bank arrival
Contra lists client-payment settlement at 3–5 business days for ACH and 7–10 for SEPA. Payout timing starts after funds become available and a payout is requested. Its payout guide lists these bank estimates:
| Processor | Faster payout | Standard payout |
|---|---|---|
| Airwallex | 0–3 business days | 4–7 business days |
| Stripe | 2–5 business days | 6–9 business days |
Standard estimates already include the four-day safety clearance. Do not add it again. Faster payout can avoid that clearance period, but it does not skip settlement of the client's payment. A separate review hold can also delay availability; follow the notification rather than relying only on the table.
What the payout costs
Checked October 27, 2026, Contra lists USD ACH processor fees of USD 0 for a US person and USD 0.75 for a non-US person; Fedwire costs USD 15. The independent pays these payout charges. Having a US bank account does not by itself give you US-person status.
Non-USD payouts can incur processor conversion fees. Client payment-processing costs and any separate project/platform charges are different items, so an ACH payout fee is not the total cost of using Contra. Review the final quote and its fee policy before requesting payment.
Considering Peanut for your earnings
The Contra-to-Peanut route is not confirmed. Consult the general USD account guide and eligible payer rules. Peanut account access depends on verification, residence and approval. Access and payer eligibility do not establish that Contra accepts the receiving details. Ask support to check your exact account and the platform's requirements before arranging a payout.
If funds are unavailable or missing
Start with wallet verification and client settlement, then check the payout status and any review notification. Contact the client about an unpaid invoice; contact Contra about settlement, a rejected bank method or an outgoing payout trace. A receiving provider can investigate a transfer that has actually been sent.
Share the amount, currency, dates, status and available reference privately. If a transfer expected in Peanut has not appeared, gather the information in the missing-deposit guide.
FAQ.
Can faster payout release an unsettled ACH payment?
No. The client's payment still needs to settle before those funds become available for withdrawal.
Does standard payout take four extra days beyond the table?
No. The standard ranges already include the safety-clearance period and provider transit.
What if my ID and bank are from different countries?
Use the ID's issuing country for verification. Contra's instructions specify Airwallex for connecting a bank in a different country.
