Get paid through Remote

To receive contractor payments through Remote, add a receiving method and submit an invoice. Your client must approve and fund the invoice before the payout can start. This guide covers independent contractors using Remote Contractor Management; employees hired through Remote follow a different payroll process.

Before you start

Accept your client's invitation and finish identity verification. The client's business verification must also be complete before payments can run. Remote's onboarding overview explains those requirements.

Have your bank details ready. The account-holder name should match your legal name in Remote. A mismatch needs an explanation and supporting documents; a business account requires evidence that you are an ultimate beneficial owner.

Remote uses different payment providers. Your dashboard may say Deposit methods or Withdrawal methods. Follow the flow available to you rather than treating those screens as interchangeable. See Remote's payment processes.

Set up your receiving method

  1. 1

    Open the deposit settings

In the dashboard, choose Deposit methods, then Add deposit method. Select one of the currencies available for your country of residence.

  2. 2

    Enter your bank details

Copy the details for the chosen currency and transfer type from your receiving provider. The bank country means where the bank is located: US bank details use United States, even when you live elsewhere. Keep your actual residence unchanged. Remote explains bank-country selection here.

  3. 3

    Save and complete verification

Choose Add bank account and complete two-step verification if requested. Check the beneficiary name before saving. These are the controls in Remote's bank-account setup guide.

  4. 4

Check whether client approval is required

If your account uses Remote Payment Services, a new method starts as Pending Verification. Your client's administrator must approve it. Each method needs its own approval, and a pending method can hold up payment. A declined method can be corrected and resubmitted. See Remote's approval guide.

  5. 5

    Submit the invoice

Create or upload your invoice, checking its receiving method and currency. Then track client approval, client funding and recipient payout separately. An approved invoice does not by itself mean the money has been sent to your bank. Remote's invoicing guide describes this sequence.

Fees and arrival

Remote's fee rules, checked October 27, 2026, depend on the currencies and receiving route:

Payment setupCost to check
Same client and payout currency, using a local payoutNo contractor transaction fee
Invoice in your local currency to a matching local accountClient covers applicable conversion and transaction costs
Invoice in the company's currency, receive another currencyContractor covers applicable conversion and transaction costs
USD sent to a non-US bankPossible SWIFT and correspondent charges

Check the actual invoice and payout quote against Remote's fee guide. There is no single arrival estimate that covers approval, client funding and bank transit; check which stage your payment has reached.

Considering Peanut?

The Remote-to-Peanut payment route is not confirmed. Remote's general support for receiving accounts does not establish acceptance of a particular Peanut account. Peanut account access depends on identity verification, residence and provider eligibility; payer eligibility is a separate check.

Read the USD receiving guide and who can pay into your account. Ask support about the exact account and Remote requirements before arranging payment.

If your payment is missing

For a pending method or an unfunded invoice, start with your client's administrator. For rejected bank details or a payout marked sent, ask Remote to check the method or provide an available transfer reference. If the transfer has left Remote, share its amount, currency, date, status and reference privately with the receiving provider. The missing-deposit guide explains what to gather for Peanut support.

FAQ.

Can I use a virtual receiving account?

Remote documents virtual accounts, subject to the provider's availability and checks. Its virtual-account guide does not guarantee acceptance of every account.

Why do I see Withdrawal methods instead?

Remote has different payment-provider flows. Use the instructions for the service enabled on your account, or ask Remote which applies before entering details.

Does approval mean the payment is on its way?

Method approval lets that method be used. Invoice approval and client funding are separate steps; recipient payout starts after Remote receives the funds.
