Peanut Is Coming to the United States

Send money to anyone via Cash App and Venmo — the payment apps Americans already use. No SSN needed. Get notified.

The United States is one of the largest sources of international money transfers in the world, with massive outbound flows to Latin America, Asia, Africa, and beyond. Domestically, Cash App (50 million+ users) and Venmo have become how Americans split bills, pay friends, and increasingly pay merchants. ACH and wire transfers handle the banking backbone, but cross-border payments from the US remain slow and expensive — bank wires cost $25-80, ACH takes 1-3 business days, and traditional remittance services charge 3-7% on most corridors.

Peanut already supports ACH and wire deposits for US users. What is coming next is Cash App and Venmo integration — meaning you will be able to send money from your Peanut balance directly to anyone's Cash App or Venmo account. Combined with Peanut's global reach, this will create a seamless bridge: deposit via ACH, send to family in Argentina via Mercado Pago, pay a contractor in Brazil via Pix, or send to a friend's Cash App or Venmo right here in the US. One app, every destination.

How It Will Work

  1. 1

Deposit via ACH, wire, or supported networks

US users can already deposit via ACH (free, 1-3 business days), wire transfer (free on Peanut's end), or supported networks (free, minutes). All deposits are free from Peanut.

  2. 2

    Your balance stays in dollars

Your balance is held in digital dollars. For US users, this is straightforward — your dollars stay as dollars with no currency risk.

  3. 3

Send via Cash App or Venmo

Send to anyone's Cash App ($cashtag, phone number, or QR) or Venmo account (username, phone number, or QR). No fees from Peanut.

  4. 4

    Instant delivery

The recipient will receive USD in their Cash App or Venmo balance. They can spend, transfer to their bank, or use their Cash Card or Venmo Debit Card at any merchant.

What Payment Methods Are Coming

Cash App

Cash App is the second-largest P2P payment app in the US, operated by Block, Inc. (formerly Square). With 50 million+ users, Cash App supports P2P transfers via $cashtag, phone number, or QR code. The Cash Card — a free Visa debit card — turns Cash App into an everyday spending tool accepted anywhere Visa is accepted. Merchant QR payments are available at Square-powered merchants and select retailers. Cash Boost offers rotating cashback rewards at specific merchants.

How it will work with Peanut: Open the Peanut app and send to a recipient's $cashtag, phone number, or Cash App QR code. The funds will arrive in their Cash App balance. They can spend via Cash Card, transfer to their bank, or send to someone else.

Venmo

Venmo is America's social payments pioneer, owned by PayPal. "Venmo me" has entered the national vocabulary. Venmo supports P2P transfers via username, phone number, or QR code. The Venmo Debit Card (Mastercard) and Venmo Credit Card extend spending to any merchant that accepts those networks. Online checkout is available at major retailers through PayPal's merchant network — Amazon, Uber, DoorDash, Grubhub, and more.

How it will work with Peanut: Open the Peanut app and send to a recipient's Venmo username, phone number, or QR code. Funds arrive in their Venmo balance for spending, transferring to bank, or paying forward.

No SSN needed (sender side). Cash App and Venmo normally require an SSN for full functionality. Peanut will accept passport verification from any country — no SSN needed to send money to US recipients.

Exchange Rate: What to Expect

Since Peanut balances are held in digital dollars and Cash App/Venmo operate in USD, sending money within the US involves no currency conversion at all. Your dollars stay as dollars — no rate concerns, no conversion costs.

Where Peanut's exchange rate advantage matters for US users is on the outbound side. When you send money from the US to Argentina, Brazil, or any other country, your digital dollars convert at the market rate. For the US-to-Argentina corridor, that means the cripto dolar rate — 5-8% better than the MEP rate cards use. For US-to-Brazil, it means saving on IOF (up to 3.5%) because it does not apply to digital dollar conversions.

No fees. Peanut will charge nothing on ACH deposits, Cash App/Venmo sends, network transactions, or any other operation. No monthly fees, no minimum balance.

Who Will Use Peanut in the United States

People Sending Money to Latin America

The US is one of the largest sources of remittances to Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and the rest of Latin America. Traditional services charge 3-7% and take hours to days. Peanut already lets US users deposit via ACH and send to Argentina (Mercado Pago) and Brazil (Pix). Cash App and Venmo integration will make Peanut a single app for both domestic and international payments — send to a friend's Venmo on Monday, send to your family in Buenos Aires via Mercado Pago on Tuesday.

Tourists and Digital Nomads

The US is one of the largest sources of international tourists. When you travel to Argentina or Brazil, Peanut lets you deposit before you leave (via ACH or supported networks) and spend locally at the market rate. When Cash App and Venmo integration launches, your US contacts can also send you money via those apps into your Peanut balance — which you then spend abroad via local payment systems.

Anyone Paying US-Based Recipients

If you are outside the US and need to pay someone in America — a freelancer, a friend, or a business — sending to their Cash App or Venmo will be the easiest option. No SWIFT wire needed, no bank account details to exchange, no $25-80 wire fee. Just their $cashtag or Venmo username.
