Locked Out of Your Peanut Account?
Your funds are safe. Peanut accounts are tied to your identity verification, not just your device — so recovery is possible even if you have lost your phone or your passkey is not working. Contact support, re-verify your identity with the same passport or national ID, and regain full access to your account and balance.
Recover Your Account
- 1
Try passkey sync first
Before contacting support, check whether your passkey synced to another device. Apple users: if you use iCloud Keychain, your passkey may be available on another Apple device signed into the same iCloud account. Android users: if you use Google Password Manager, check another device signed into the same Google account. If you find the passkey, navigate to peanut.me and log in from there.
- 2
Contact support
If you cannot find your passkey on any device, reach out to support. Provide the email address associated with your Peanut account, a description of what happened (lost phone, broken device, switched ecosystems, cleared browser data), and your name as it appears on your verification document. Support is available 24/7 in all languages, with an average response time of under 1 hour.
- 3
Re-verify your identity
To protect your account, you will be asked to verify your identity again. Have your original verification document ready — the same passport or national ID card you used when you first verified. The process is the same as initial verification: photo ID and a selfie, under 2 minutes for most users.
- 4
Regain access
Once your identity is confirmed, support will help you set up a new passkey on your current device. Your account — including your balance, transaction history, and verification status — remains fully intact.
Common Scenarios
Lost or Stolen Phone
Your passkey was on the lost device. If it synced via iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager to another device, you can still log in from there. If not, go through the recovery process described above.
Important
Switched from iPhone to Android (or Vice Versa)
Passkeys do not sync between the Apple and Google ecosystems. If you switched operating systems, your passkey from the old device will not be available on the new one. Contact support to set up a new passkey after re-verification.
Cleared Browser Data
Peanut is a web app that runs in your browser. If you cleared all browser data (cache, cookies, site data), the session may have been reset. Your passkey should still be available in your device's keychain — try navigating to peanut.me and look for the passkey login prompt. If it does not appear, contact support.
Broken or Damaged Device
If your device is broken but you have cloud backup (iCloud or Google), your passkey may be recoverable on a replacement device. Set up the new device with the same cloud account and try logging in before contacting support.
