Can Not Log In to Peanut?
Peanut uses passkeys for login — if you are having trouble, the issue is usually browser support, device settings, or a new device without your passkey. Passkeys are a modern authentication method that replaces passwords with your device's biometric or screen lock. This guide covers the most common fixes.
What Is a Passkey?
A passkey is a modern replacement for passwords. Instead of typing a password, you authenticate using your device's biometric (fingerprint, face scan) or screen lock (PIN, pattern). Passkeys are more secure than passwords because they cannot be phished, reused, or leaked in data breaches. They are stored securely on your device and synchronized through your device's ecosystem — iCloud Keychain for Apple devices or Google Password Manager for Android devices.
When you create a Peanut account, a passkey is generated automatically as part of the signup process. This is why there is no password to remember or reset.
Fix Login Issues
- 1
Check your browser
Peanut is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that runs in your mobile browser. Passkeys require a modern browser with WebAuthn support. Safari on iOS 16+, Chrome on Android 9+, Chrome on desktop, and recent Firefox versions are all supported. If you are using an older browser, update it to the latest release and try again.
- 2
Check biometric and screen lock settings
Passkeys use your device's built-in authentication. On iPhone/iPad, make sure Face ID or Touch ID is enabled. On Android, make sure fingerprint, face unlock, or a screen lock is set up. On desktop, configure biometric or security key authentication. If biometric authentication is disabled, the passkey prompt may not appear or may fail silently.
- 3
Try the original browser
If you are using a different browser on the same device (for example, you created your account in Safari but are trying Chrome), the passkey may not be available. Switch back to the original browser. On iOS, passkeys in iCloud Keychain work across Safari and some other browsers. On Android, passkeys in Google Password Manager work across Chrome-based browsers.
- 4
Sync passkeys to a new device
If you switched to a new phone or tablet, your passkey may not have transferred. iOS to iOS: iCloud Keychain syncs passkeys across Apple devices. Android to Android: Google Password Manager syncs across your Google account. Switching between iOS and Android: passkeys do not sync between ecosystems — use the account recovery process.

Handle cleared browser data
If you cleared your browser cache or site data, navigate to peanut.me — the passkey login prompt should appear automatically. Authenticate with your biometric or screen lock. If the prompt does not appear, your passkey may have been removed. Contact support for account recovery.
