Peanut is adding BLIK support. Soon you'll be able to pay at merchants across Poland directly from your Peanut balance — without needing a Polish bank account or PESEL number. BLIK is Poland's most popular digital payment method, processing over 1.5 billion transactions per year. It dominates in-store payments, online checkout, ATM withdrawals, and peer-to-peer transfers. Once the integration launches, Peanut will give you access to the BLIK network using your digital dollar balance.

Poland has one of Europe's most advanced digital payment ecosystems, and BLIK sits at the center of it. Today, using BLIK requires a Polish bank account. Peanut will change that — letting travelers, remote workers, and anyone with a Peanut account pay with BLIK across Poland.

What Is BLIK?

BLIK is a mobile payment system operated by Polski Standard Platnosci (PSP), a consortium of major Polish banks. Unlike QR-only systems, BLIK's primary mechanism is a 6-digit code generated in a banking app. You enter this code at a payment terminal, ATM, or online checkout, then confirm the transaction in your banking app. The payment is authorized instantly.

BLIK also supports QR code payments and person-to-person transfers via phone number. It processes over 1.5 billion transactions per year, making it Poland's dominant digital payment method — ahead of contactless cards for many use cases. BLIK is the preferred payment method for Polish e-commerce and is increasingly used for in-store purchases and cardless ATM withdrawals.

What makes BLIK unique is that it is built into virtually all Polish banking apps. There is no separate BLIK app or wallet — it lives inside the banking experience that Poles already use every day. This deep integration is why adoption has been so rapid.

Poland is a growing destination for digital nomads, with Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw attracting remote workers thanks to low cost of living, excellent internet infrastructure, and vibrant tech scenes. But accessing BLIK currently requires a Polish bank account, which requires a PESEL — effectively locking out visitors and short-term residents. Peanut will change that, giving anyone with a passport access to Poland's dominant payment method.

Where You Can Pay

BLIK is accepted nearly everywhere in Poland:

  • Supermarkets — Biedronka, Lidl, Zabka, Carrefour, and other grocery chains
  • Restaurants, cafes, and food delivery — both sit-down dining and delivery platforms
  • Clothing and electronics retailers — major shopping malls and standalone stores
  • Online stores — BLIK is the dominant payment method for Polish e-commerce
  • ATM cash withdrawals — cardless withdrawals via BLIK code at ATMs across Poland
  • Vending machines — a growing category as contactless acceptance expands

BLIK works across Poland's major cities — Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Poznan, Katowice — and throughout smaller towns. Its acceptance is nearly universal at any business that takes digital payments.

How It Will Work

  1. 1

    Open Peanut and select Pay

You'll open the Peanut app and initiate a BLIK payment. The exact interface will be confirmed at launch.

  2. 2

Generate a BLIK code or scan QR

Peanut will generate a BLIK-compatible code or QR scan option, depending on the merchant and payment context.

  3. 3

Enter the code or present QR at checkout

At a terminal, you'll enter the 6-digit code. For online purchases, you'll enter the code at checkout. For QR-enabled merchants, you'll scan directly.

  4. 4

    Review and confirm

You'll see the zloty amount, the digital dollar equivalent, and the exchange rate. The rate will lock at the moment of confirmation.

  5. 5

    Payment confirmed instantly

The merchant receives zlotys immediately. From their perspective, it is a standard BLIK transaction.

The specific payment flow will be finalized closer to launch. The steps above reflect the general BLIK experience combined with Peanut's existing payment model.

What You'll Need

When BLIK support goes live, you'll need:

  • A Peanut account with identity verification. Verify with your passport or national ID card from any country — under 2 minutes for most users. Your documents are handled securely and Peanut never sees or stores them.
  • A funded digital dollar balance. Deposit from any exchange or wallet, or via SEPA bank transfer from anywhere in Europe. All deposits are free.
  • No Polish bank account or PESEL. You won't need a PESEL number, a Polish bank account, or any local financial relationship. Just your passport and your Peanut balance.

Specific requirements and transaction limits will be confirmed at launch.

Fees & Exchange Rate

Peanut charges no fees on payments. When BLIK support goes live, you'll pay at a competitive market exchange rate with no transaction fee, no foreign exchange fee, and no hidden charges.

Your digital dollars will convert to Polish zloty at the moment of payment. The rate locks when you confirm — no slippage, no post-transaction adjustments. Poland is part of the SEPA zone, so Peanut users in Europe can also deposit via SEPA for free, making the end-to-end experience seamless.

Detailed rate comparisons and savings estimates for the Poland corridor will be published closer to launch.
