Frequently Asked Questions

When will Peanut launch in Malaysia?+
Peanut is working on integrating DuitNow for QR payments in Malaysia. We do not have an exact launch date. Sign up to get notified when it goes live. You can already use Peanut for digital dollar deposits and withdrawals via supported networks.
What payment methods will Peanut support in Malaysia?+
Peanut will integrate with **DuitNow**, Malaysia's unified QR payment standard. DuitNow connects all major banks and e-wallets (Touch 'n Go, Boost, GrabPay, MAE) under one interoperable QR code. If a merchant displays a DuitNow QR, Peanut will work there.
How do I get early access to Peanut in Malaysia?+
Sign up at [peanut.me](https://peanut.me/invite?code=SQUIRRELINVITESYOU&utm_medium=content&utm_source=countries&utm_campaign=malaysia&utm_content=faq) to be notified when DuitNow spending launches. Create your account now and it will unlock spending when Malaysia goes live.
Do I need a MyKad to use Peanut in Malaysia?+
No. Peanut will accept passport verification from any country. You will not need a MyKad (national ID), a Malaysian bank account, or a work/residency visa. This removes the biggest barrier foreigners face when trying to access DuitNow payments in Malaysia.
Will Peanut work at hawker stalls and small merchants?+
If the merchant has a DuitNow QR code, Peanut will work there. DuitNow QR adoption is widespread in urban areas — hawker stalls, food courts, and small shops in KL, Penang, and major cities increasingly display DuitNow QR codes. Coverage in rural areas and traditional wet markets is growing but not yet universal.
Does DuitNow's cross-border QR work with Peanut?+
Peanut's initial integration will focus on DuitNow QR payments within Malaysia. The cross-border QR links between DuitNow and PayNow (Singapore), PromptPay (Thailand), and QRIS (Indonesia) are separate from Peanut's own integration. As Peanut expands across Southeast Asia, cross-border spending will become seamless through the app.
