Withdraw from Peanut to a Mexican Bank via SPEI
SPEI is Mexico's real-time interbank rail. Withdraw to any 18-digit CLABE in seconds, 24/7/365 — free, no minimum, no business-day cutoff.
SPEI is the fastest way to move money from your Peanut balance to a Mexican bank account. Withdrawals are free, there is no minimum amount, and funds typically arrive in seconds — including on weekends, evenings, and Mexican public holidays. Your digital dollars are converted to Mexican pesos (MXN) and deposited directly into the destination CLABE.
Before You Start
Info
- A verified Peanut account. Bank withdrawals require identity verification. You will need a passport or national ID card — no CURP needed. The verification process takes under 2 minutes for most users. See the verification guide for details.
- A Mexican CLABE. SPEI withdrawals are available to any 18-digit CLABE at any participating Mexican bank or fintech — including BBVA, Santander, Banorte, Citibanamex, HSBC, Scotiabank, Nu México, Klar, Hey Banco, and Albo.
- The full 18-digit CLABE. Not the 10-digit account number, not the debit card number. Double-check every digit — incorrect CLABEs are the most common cause of failed transfers.
- Beneficiary name. The name registered on the receiving CLABE. For your own withdrawals, this must match the name on your Peanut account. Third-party SPEI transfers are supported — you can also withdraw to a family member's or anyone else's CLABE.
You can save multiple CLABEs in the app. Once you have added a CLABE, it will be available for future withdrawals without re-entering the details.

Funds arrive
Funds arrive in the recipient's CLABE in seconds. Banxico targets under 30 seconds end-to-end.

Peanut charges no fees for SPEI withdrawals. There is no minimum and no maximum amount enforced by Peanut. Transactions above $100,000 USD equivalent may trigger a manual review for additional verification under Bridge's standard policy, but there is no hard cap.
The receiving bank's policies apply on top. Retail banks like BBVA, Santander, Banorte, and Citibanamex typically accept incoming SPEI for free or charge MXN 0–11. Digital banks and fintechs (Nu México, Klar, Hey Banco, Albo) are almost universally free. The SPEI scheme itself caps any single transaction at MXN 8,000,000.
For the complete fee schedule, see the pricing page.
Processing Time
- Typical processing time: Seconds. Banxico's scheme target is under 30 seconds end-to-end; in practice the median is well below that.
- 24/7/365: SPEI runs continuously, including weekends and Mexican public holidays. There is no business-day cut-off and no batch window.
- Funds appear immediately in the recipient's account once Banxico settles — no next-day queue.
- Why it's instant: SPEI is operated directly by Banco de México as a real-time gross settlement system. Unlike ACH in the US, every transfer settles individually and in real time.
If you need to send to a US or European bank instead, see ACH withdrawals or the bank withdrawal overview.
Common SPEI Issues and Tips
- Wrong CLABE: Sent funds are typically auto-returned within 1–5 business days by the receiving bank. The return credits back to your Peanut balance.
- Name mismatch: Some Mexican banks reject SPEI transfers where the beneficiary name does not match the CLABE holder. Many accept the transfer but flag it for internal review, which can delay crediting by a few minutes to a few hours.
- Weekend high-value transfers: SPEI itself runs 24/7, but some receiving banks delay crediting very large weekend transfers until Monday for manual review. This is bank-side behaviour, not a SPEI or Peanut limit.
- Daily limits at the receiving bank: Some Mexican retail banks default to a per-day incoming SPEI limit (commonly MXN 50,000–200,000). If you are sending a larger amount, the recipient may need to raise that limit in their banking app.
- CLABE vs. account number: Always use the 18-digit CLABE — never the 10-digit account number from the back of a debit card, and never the card number itself.
If a withdrawal fails — for example, due to an incorrect CLABE — your Peanut balance is automatically re-credited once the receiving bank returns the funds. You cannot cancel a pending SPEI withdrawal once confirmed; settlement is too fast.
FAQ
How long does a SPEI withdrawal from Peanut take?+
SPEI withdrawals settle in seconds. Banxico's scheme target is under 30 seconds end-to-end, and SPEI runs 24/7/365 — including weekends, evenings, and Mexican public holidays. There is no business-day cutoff.
Does Peanut charge fees for SPEI withdrawals?+
No. SPEI withdrawals are completely free from Peanut. There are no fees, no minimum withdrawal amount, and no maximum per transaction enforced by Peanut. The receiving Mexican bank may charge a small incoming fee (typically MXN 0–11), but most retail banks and digital banks accept incoming SPEI for free.
What is the minimum SPEI withdrawal amount?+
There is no minimum. You can withdraw any amount from your Peanut balance to a Mexican CLABE via SPEI.
Can I send a SPEI to someone else's CLABE?+
Yes. You can withdraw to your own CLABE or to anyone else's — there is no Peanut Link required. Enter the recipient's 18-digit CLABE and beneficiary name, confirm the amount, and Bridge sends the funds directly. This works the same as withdrawing to your own bank.
What happens if I enter the wrong CLABE?+
If the CLABE does not exist or the account is closed, the receiving bank returns the transfer — usually within 1–5 business days — and your Peanut balance is automatically re-credited. If the CLABE belongs to a different person, the funds may not auto-return; always verify all 18 digits before confirming.
